Död:		1960-03-19 us, Minnesota, Chisago, Branch Township 1)		Charles Johnson Laid to Rest Funeral services for Charles Emanuel Johnson were held Tuesday, March 22, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, North Branch, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Pastor Milton Gunberg was in charge and gave a sermon. Mrs. Herbert Bloom served as organist and accompanied the soloist, Mr. Vernon Johnson. Mr. Johnson sang two hymns: "Children of the Heavenly Father" (in Swedish) and "Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross." Interment was in the Trinity Church Cemetery. Charles Emanuel Johnson was born in the parish of Jemjo, Sweden on Mar. 3. 1869, and passed away at his home near North Branch on Saturday, March 19, at the age of 91 years and 16 days. He was baptized and confirmed in the land of his birth; he came to the United States at the age of 16; coming directly to North Branch, where he resided most of the time until his death. He lived for some time with his sister and brother-in-law. In 1890 he bought a farm where he resided most of the time until his death. He was married to Amanda Carlson Nov. 6, in 1901. 10 children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson. Two sons preceded him in death; Albin in 1945 and Hilfred in 1954. He is survived by his wife and 8 children: Bernard and Hilbert of North Branch, Agnes Pearson and Sylvia Olson of St.Paul, Albert Johnson and Ruth Sutter of Lindstrom, and Melba Jenson and Arthur Johnson of Grand Rapids. He is also survived by his half-brother, Gotfred Trulson of North Branch; 2 half-sisters; Mrs. Gerda Elmstrand of North Branch and Mrs. Lydia Anderson of Pine City; also 8 grandchildren and 3 great grand children. Pall bearers were: Bernard, Hilbert, Albert and Arthur Johnson, Earl Sutter and Gust Olson. - North Branch Review March 31, 1960
